As peculiar people, God’s own possession, a people God has redeemed by His blood and purchased with the highest price ever, it is incumbent on us Christians to live our lives to the expectation of our Father/redeemer.

The Apostle Paul written to the church at Colosse reminded them that their peculiarity is what have constitutes them as a Church. For them and for that matter every Christian to maintain our peculiarity and identify as a New Testament church  it is imperative that we set our affection, desires and passion on things above because we have put off the old man with his deeds and have put on the new man to have a position in Christ.

To be in Christ and maintain our peculiarity we must mortify, dislike, hate or eschew the old deeds that made us sinners and disobedient people when we lived in them because the wrath of God comes on the children of disobedience. But now we are dead to sin and our life is hid in Christ who is coming back for the second time and we are gong to appear with Him in His glory. Colossians 3:1-10.

In another epistle to the church at Ephesus the Apostle Paul warns them of people, preachers who may use vain words to make them think that they can live in sin and still appear with Christ in glory. He affirms that the wrath of God is sure to come on the children of disobedience. Take note of the word “children”. The Bible is referencing all those who believe they have repented from their sins and calls themselves Christians, Born Again Christians, or new creation. Because as said in verse 5 whoremongers and all unclean persons have no inheritance in the kingdom of God Ephesians 5:1-12.
